What Does Elevated Bilirubin Mean Elevated Bilirubin And AST Levels...should I Worry?

Elevated bilirubin and AST levels...should I worry? - what does elevated bilirubin mean

I am healthy 28 years. I recently had a blood test for bilirubin and was somewhat higher (within the normal range is 0.2-1.2 mg / dl, and mine was 1.6) and AST (normal range 10-35 U / L, and mine was 37). Everything else is normal and tests for hepatitis B was negative. Is there a reason for concern? What could these test results? (yeah, yeah, I know I should see a doctor, and I'm fast, but if someone shed some light shed it in advance I guess).

I work in a hospital laboratory and the results are so abnormal ... do not worry. How often do you drink alcohol? This could be a slight increase. Also, certain types of medications that your liver is not working really hard to clean your blood, which could also lead to a slight increase, too. I would be of no consequence, to the doctor when you begin your turn yellow skin and whites of the eyes Note worry. This would mean that there is severe liver complications. Take care.
: Add 'Wow, this is Stephanie an idiot. Dr. Tse is right ... Bilirubin are increased in acute hepatitis C. In advanced stages, yes. And with the hepatitis C, AST and ALT are very high, not only 2 U / L in the standard.

Stephanie ..... You're at a point, but Waaaaay Thanks for your reply. FYI bilirubin is not affected by hepatitis C virus. Liver ezymes only, especially SGPT (ALT). ALT or AST is not specific to the liver. Everything you need to do now is to repeat the test. I'm pretty sure it will be normal.
It should be no medical advice on the nurses!

... Physician confidence ze!

Shame on the responses so far!
If you need to worry. I see signs of hepatitis B, but I have not been tested for hepatitis C?

My ALT and AST were almost always normal, but after testing my Inbetween ALT and AST were slightly elevated. It has always been the target of a bad tooth.

So even though my symptoms never really went away, behind me, until I got the doctor pressed he said that when he decided to be tested to a test for antibodies against the introduction of hepatitis C positive, and finally I have the right diagnosis at the age of 34 -- to complain about ten years!

Well, if you are feeling bad, many people have routine checks and find out that they have HCV.
The symptoms of hepatitis C are not always correlated with the degree of damage to the liver, and vice versa.

However, other types of hepatitis, autoimmune hepatitis, Nash and non-alcoholic fatty liver. There are also aware hepatitis A, but most people, when they should. I test anti-HCV, whether you are all risk factors are known. It will be us soon! Julong-term support.

EDIT: Bilirubin is both a precursor and a product of liver metabolism.

Those who are not high enough to give cause for concern. It could be as well if they dehydrate when everything is absorbed into the blood. Doc Mai to rehearse and to consult regularly.

Good luck.
